Because babelfish.altavista.com is my friend.
Like my friend, Mr. CSS, I have begun (okay, not really, but for dramatic effect) to consider what being in my course/college/university will lead to.
For the life of me, I can't imagine myself as a director. I can tell people what to do and stuff, but I can't think of it as a real job for me. It'd be nice to be some indie avant-garde filmmaker/artiste hotshot, but I'm no visionary, really. I'm a bit screwed-up/creative/artistic, sure, but not like a lot of other people I could mention.
I'd think that the only thing I should be making films for is the country. I know it's idealistic and pakabanal, but I believe it's true. But then, I'm not at all that patriotic. I sucked at social studies. I can hardly write/speak good Filipino for godssakes. I have little social commentary to give. I can't "save" the country with good films. I don't even know if I'm going to be any good at all.
I guess I'll just go into scriptwriting or TV work. I guess I'd do commercials and music videos. But, fuck, I don't want to fade into obscurity like everyone else.
What I'd really want to be in is photography. I haven't managed to suck at it that much, andI enjoy it. I'd love to go into commerical photography. Okay, what I'd really love to go into is advertising. Print ads, TV ads, radio ads, etc. Only thing that's making me doubt going into it is the competition, and the pressure (from what I've heard, advertising has a lot of those). My English 10 teacher once told us she thinks there are too many ad executives in the country. So... seriously reconsidering.
Hmm... PLUG-IN

So I said before that I was doing this article for the FOPC. I'd appreciate it if you comment on the bathrooms in the buildings on the CMC side of the academic oval. So that's from NCPAG to the Alumni Hotel. Tell me anything, if you've seen roaches, rats, murder, suspicious behavior, ANYTHING. Also, rate from 1 to 5, 5 being the highest. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
Where I've gone to so far (only talking about the gents CR, mind you):
MassComm - Five bathrooms, two on each wing, plus the basement. There isn't any water in either the film part, or the library part. Mostly clean. Main bathroom closest to entrance have windows looking out onto the driveway. Grade: 4 (so I'm biased. Sue me.)
Music - Two bathrooms, I think, or maybe three. The main one, in the old building, usually looks like its out of order. Seems to have running water. 3.
Theater - I distinctly remember it being pink. I may be wrong. And not as clean as I would have thought it would be. 3.
Film center - Pretty. Has stained glass windows. Blue tile. Can also be quite creepy. Otherwise, very pretty. And clean. And all in working order, as far as I know. 5.
Eng'g - Bathrooms at the ends of the hall. Pretty much like the AS bathrooms, which are generally clean and orderly, but engg's are smaller and creepier, but only because of the large concentration of frat boys around. 4.
Vanguard - Ecch. No water. Stinks like hell. 1.
Alumni center (actually bowling center) - Banyo ba 'to? More water on the floor than in the faucet. 1.
Bahay ng Alumni - Bathrooms both on ground and second floor. Ground has a pretty picture before you go inside. Not that clean. Some of the faucets don't work. Lots of mirrors. Spacious. Upstairs sucks, pretty much the same, only smaller. 3.
Shopping Center - You pay two bucks. Need I say more? Looks like any run-down toilet you see in gas stations. Avoid as much as possible. 1.
Chapel - Also has two-peso pay. I only got to use the urinals, but I'm pretty sure there was a sink and a toilet there. Pretty clean. Okay enough. 3.
Alumni Hotel - Pretty. Clean. Has soap. 5.
More bathroom testimonials tomorrow.
